Access Denied for Enterprise & domain admin RRS feed

  • when I try to change permission for shared folder I got access denied although I am a domain & enterprise and server local admin 

    why ?

    Thank you for posting in our TechNet forum.

    We can troubleshoot as below:

    1. Lgon to the server that we share the folder.

    2. Check the permission under Permission entries through right clicking this folder->Properties-> Security tab->Advanced-> Permission tab.

    (1)Check if your account has the full control permission or other permissions.

    (2)Or if the groups your account is in have the full control permission or other permissions.


    Tip: If we cannot check, we can ask the owner of this folder to check the above permission.




    3. If your account has no permission, we can ask the owner of this folder to add your account and grant the permission.

    but do I need to full control since I enterprise admin ?
    Yes.

    do I need to full control sine I am owner for this file ?
    Yes.

    do I need to full control since I am a local admin on File server ?
    Yes.

  • The permission can be removed for an admin user, you can take ownership and change the permission, if you want to.
