Direct Server Return (DSR) on Windows 2008 R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    Is DSR working on Windows 2008R2?

    I configured DSR as follow - production IP = 1.1.1.1 and loopback IP = 1.1.1.2

    1. Allowed ICMPv4 in Windows Firewall

    2. Installed loopback adapter

    3. Configured loopback adapter (cleared "Client for Microsoft Networks" & File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" check box.

    4. Enter loopback adapter IP address and subnet mask

    5. Changed Interface Metric to 254 under Automatic metric

    6. Renamed production NIC to net and loopback

    7. Run cmd as administrator

    netsh interface ipv4 set interface "net" weakhostreceive=enabled
    netsh interface ipv4 set interface "loopback" weakhostreceive=enabled
    netsh interface ipv4 set interface "loopback" weakhostsend=enabled

    8. Ping from other computer

    -- ping 1.1.1.1 -> reply

    -- ping 1.1.1.2 -> not reachable

    It seems a lot of people facing the problem.  That's why does DSR supported for Windows 2008 R2.
