Data Execution Prevention

    Question

  • Frequently Internet Explorer will not completely oad and thereafter refuses to close. Error message that ensues claims that Data Execution Prevention (DEP) closed the program, and recommends updating to software (IE) that is DEP compatible. But no such update to IE is listed. Suggestions?

  • Hi

    Please mention the OS and IE Version.

    Check the Event Viewer.

    Try it with Firefox or Crome.

    Try to reset IE settings.

  • Hi,

    Which Internet Explorer version are you using? Does the issue occur on every website?

    I suggest trying the following suggestions about Internet Explorer.

    1. Clear Temporary Internet Files

    2. Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> Reset… button

    3. Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (with no add-ons)

    4. Test the issue in Safe Mode with networking.

    More information about DEP

  • I'm using Windows Vista-64, Internet Explorer, version 9.0.8112.16421.  I'm seeing the similar situation.  My homepage is set to http://www.google.com.  Intermittantly, when I open IE and the home page is loading, I get teh DEP message and the OS indicates it is closing the application (IE).  It does not close the application, however, and everything seems to continue with no problem.  I can close the window with no problem.  It has been happening for some time now.
