O365 SharePoint Online : Hybrid Search : CloudSSA: How Search Center gets connected to search service applications in different Crawl Setups RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

In a Hybrid Search Setup scenarios how do we connect search centers to different crawl setups in one tenant?

Eg: http://yasodev.sharepoint.com/search --> is my Production Search Center. I want to connect this to Content Sources crawled in my Production CloudSSA in OnPremise

http://yasodev.sharepoint.com/sites/qasearchcenter --> is my QA Search Center. I want to connect this to Content Sources crawled in my QA CloudSSA in OnPremise

Is it possible? If this is possible how to restrict the search results from QA displayed in Production?

I am referring to the setup referred here

    Regards,

  • Hi,

It is not supported to have multiple crawl settings for multiple search centers during Hybrid Search Setup.

According to the official document, each Cloud SSA farm must only crawl unique content, which means one Cloud SSA for one farm only. Crawling the same source content from multiple Cloud SSA farms connected to the same Office 365 tenant is not supported.

When you configure Cloud hybrid search in SharePoint Online, the on-premise content is added to the Office 365 index during crawl. The hybrid/second Search Center uses the default result source and shows search results from both on-premises and Office 365 content.
