Missing cmdlet - Invoke-Webrequest RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am VERY new to PS.  On my Win 7 PC at work Invoke-Webrequest is available.

On the Win 2008 Server I am told Invoke-Webrequest is not a recognized cmdlet.  It does not show as part of get-command.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Eckhart2014,

Joe had provided you with the correct TechNet article link. The Invoke-WebRequest cmdlet was introduced in Windows PowerShell 3.0. In Windows Server 2008, if install KB968929, there should be PowerShell 2.0 in the server 2008. If you want to get Invoke-Webrequest command on server 2008, please refer to following article and check if can help you.
