http:\\WWW.Google.com returns 404 error nginx

    Question

  • I have been all over this. Vista Home Premium SP2.

I have run Malwarebytes - no problems; I cleaned the registry - no change; I ipconfig /flushdns - no change; I dropped back from IE9 to IE8 - no change; I reset IE - no change.

All other systems on LAN work just fine. https:\\www.google.com connects.

    How do I fix this?

  • I found the deeply buried bug!

I ran ComboFix and that cleared the hidden Trojan. What it was doing was depositing google re-directs in the hosts file. I know hosts is a vestige of old networking.

Look there to find the culprit.

  • I have created a program that will fix this for all windows OS's XP-7. This error is commonly a virus. This will not "FIX" the virus it only removes the redirect. Please scan your system.  http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=154650
