GPO not applying to user settings RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had made a gpo for changing the wallpaper on OU "Gaming". But now I decided to remove that gpo, but I am still getting message saying settings are managed by your organization in all the accounts under OU "Gaming.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Please check if the below information helps:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3163622/ms16-072-security-update-for-group-policy-june-14,-2016

    Symptoms

All user Group Policy, including those that have been security filtered on user accounts or security groups, or both, may fail to apply on domain joined computers.

    Cause

This issue may occur if the Group Policy Object is missing the Read permissions for the Authenticated Users group or if you are using security filtering and are missing Read permissions for the domain computers group.

    Resolution

To resolve this issue, use the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC.MSC) and follow one of the following steps:

Add the Authenticated Users group with Read Permissions on the Group Policy Object (GPO).
If you are using security filtering, add the Domain Computers group with read permission.

  • Ok so what I did is created another GPO for wallpaper, changed it from "not configured" to "Disabled" and then back to "not configured" now the message "managed by your organization" is gone. However, users are only able to change solid color; wallpapers do not apply.

  • Hi
In order to help you solve the problem better, I want to confirm the current problem with you. If you understand it wrong, you can tell me.
Originally configured wallpaper, and managed by your organization, now a new policy, not configured, but still can’t change the wallpaper?
If this is what I understand, you can run gpresult and check which policy is used
Hope this information can help you
    Best wishes
    Vicky
