Trusted site gives page unavailable with IE Protected Mode on RRS feed

  • Question

  • Folks:

IE11 works great for me with one - and only one exception.  1 site - that I trust - will not render with Protected Mode on.  If I click any link off of http://www.sqlsaturday.com/Events.aspx I get a "page cannot be displayed error after 30 seconds or so.  (It behaves like a name resolution thing.

If I turn enhanced security off - no issue.  I can move around the site no issues.  But I don't want to do that when I'm having problems with just 1 site.  Is there any way to tell enhanced security "hey - this site is cool"?

  • Hi,

by default Protected Mode is turned off for sites  in the Trusted zone.

the url you provided works fine when in the internet zone (Protected Mode on).

IE has security settings preventing navigation into a zone of lower integrity....

sqlsaturday.com is an affiliate of sqlpass.org and they use that domains cookies to validate your login credentials.... either...
Remove sqlsaturday.com from your trusted sites list (recommended.... the Trusted sites actually has lower security.... ) https works just as well (encrypts) in all IE security zones.... generally the trusted sites list is used by enterprise users that must connect with other business networks.
    or
Add *.sqlpass.org to your trusted sites list (not recommended).... you did not mention that you Trusted that site....

Ensure also that you are accepting the default security zone settings... Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default"

To troubleshoot issues like yours test the site in InPrivate Mode (where Addons are disabled and site cookies are sandboxed)... the first step as always in troubleshooting browser issues is to test in noAddons mode.
If you are using a server version of windows please indicate as such in your questions.... the solution is slightly different.
