RDS for Mac Bug? - Automatically Resizing a Window and Moving off screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

So we have a rather weird issue, where we use RDC to connect to an application.  In this application you are able to click on clients and a pop up occurs.  All of a sudden RDC will take this pop up window and resize it automatically, slowly expanding the entire screen, then moving to the left.  Then it will disappear, assuming it got too big to fit on the screen.  Another even weirder thing is on another window it seems to snap to the top of the screen then moves to the left... After awhile it reappears on the other side of the screen still moving to the left.  I was able to replicate this on multiple Mac computers using OSX 10.10.5 and the latest Remote Desktop Client for mac.

Any clue why this is happening?  We're on OSX 10.10.5 and the latest RDC client.

This doesn't occur with the Windows client, only the Mac one.  Nor does it happen in our own software, when started locally.

    Help!

  • Hi Chrisdunbar,

once the issue is fixed it will be part of our release notes. Have you already looked at our Mac Beta if this one solves your issue: aka.ms/rdmac-preview

  • Hi,

It seems to be the same issue as below. We filled a bug report for a very earlier version of RDC.

=== excerpt from the bug description ===
April 9, 2015 Bug 2326129:[MAC] Vanishing effect of Remote Desktop
When you start Remote Desktop Connection in full screen mode as the published app from another publishing host it will start in full screen but the window will star vanishing to the point it is no longer visible on the desktop. The shrinking start from lower right corner into upper left corner direction.

As a work around about it was starting the session in windowed mode.

Could you please verify that the shrinking problem does not repro in Windowed Mode - please select any resolution from the Display Tab before clicking on Connect button.

  • Hi,

We have exactly the same issue and have found that it only applies to RDC v8.0.23 Earlier versions seem to be unaffected. Selecting a different resolution makes no difference.

  • Hi Eva,

I looked at the Mac Beta but it doesn't support access to remote resources yet.

V8.0.26 still hasn't fixed the issue.
