not responding to http requests

Question

Hello,
In the ConfigMgr console > Monitoring > Overview > System Status > component status, the status of the following components keep on going back and forth between OK, Warning and Critical:
- SMS_AWEBSVC_CONTROL_MANAGER (error = Application Web Service Control Manager detected AWEBSVC is not responding to HTTP requests. The http status code and text is 404, Not Found)
- SMS_PORTALWEB_CONTROL_MANAGER (error = Application Web Service Control Manager detected AWEBSVC is not responding to HTTP requests. The http status code and text is 404, Not Found)
- SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER (error = Application Web Service Control Manager detected AWEBSVC is not responding to HTTP requests. The http status code and text is 404, Not Found)
The configuration settings are the "default" ones whenever possible, http is preferred since it is for in-LAN use.
The clients can contact the MP: http://servername/sms_aut/.sms_aut?mplist gives an xml file and http://servername/sms_aut/.sms_aut?mpcert gives a long string.
Any idea on how to stabilize the situation in the OK status?
THX.

The issue was an IIS conflict with the WSUS website. I changed the port for the WSUS site and everything has been "green" for the past 24h.Wednesday, October 22, 2014 6:21 AM

What version of ConfigMgr are you using (RTM, SP1, or R2)?
Have you reviewed your IIS logs?
Do you have appropriate AV exceptions in place on the system?

This is your Application Catalog. Has it ever worked?

ConfigMgr 2012R2 (hotfix included) on a Windows 2012R2 server - all was OK during the installation wizards
IIS logs ... not finished reading them yet
AV exceptions - had not been configured yet, endpoint parameters are still at default, realtime is disabled
however, the update tab shows that definitions were ("spontaneously") created at 01:25 on 20/10/2014

browsing to http://servername/CMApplicationCatalog on the test clients:
- was OK last week (nothing to list but access to the page was OK)
- recognizes users this week but says "cannot connect to server"

So you haven't published any apps to it. Therefore you could just easily remove the App Cat web service point and website point and re-install them.

Not sure what this means? I'm talking about virus scanning exceptions, not definitions.
This sounds like a clear change in IIS configuration. Did someone apply a GPO or otherwise reconfigure IIS?

Hi,
You could check the logs about Application Catalog website point and Application Catalog web service point.
