Error pulling Docker container hello-world from nanoserver. The system cannot find the path specified RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good day,
I am having trouble getting docker to successfully pull an image on a newly set up Windows server 2016 (version 1607) (OS build 14393.2906)
Windows defender was deactivated. No Anti-virus was installed.
    Docker version:
     Engine:
      Version:         17.06.2-ee-21
API version:   1.30 (minimum version 1.24)
      Go version:    go1.10.8
      Git commit:   85d680a
      Built:             Thu Apr 11 06:13:02 2019
      OS/Arch:       windows/amd64

      Experimental: false

    Input in an elevated powershell:
    docker container run hello-world:nanoserver

    Output:
Unable to find image 'hello-world:nanoserver' locally

    See 'C:\Program Files\Docker\docker.exe run --help'.

As the image is being pulled I can see it in the C:\ProgramData\docker\windowsfilter file but just before it finishes the image disappears.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Hi,

Because Windows Server Containers and the underlying host share a single kernel, the container’s base image must match that of the host. If the versions are different the container may start, but full functionally cannot be guaranteed.
