E2007 OWA not displaying images RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have Exchange 2007 in a test environment set up before I deploy in a live environment.  I have bot exchange 2003 and 2007 in the same domain and I have begun moving mailboxes from 2k3 to 2k7.  I have a strange problem that OWA does not display images.  I have tried changing forms based auth to basic auth but still no luck. If I type the direct URL to the gif images I get a blank page, however if I browse locally in the directories I can successfully load up the images.
I have applied the latest update rollup 9 and have also tried removing CAS role and re-installed back but still no luck.
I have also read to try and remove the application pool from the OWA subdirectories in IIS but I am still encountering the same problem.
Can someone please help me out on this?

    Thanks

    AS

  • Check info:

    1.      Which windows version do you use?

    2.      What kind of image can’t be displayed? Could you describe it, the symptom?

    3.      Despite the image issue, could you login the mailboxes via OWA?

    4.      Please try to create a new mailbox on the exchange 2007 server, and then see if the issue still persists by accessing OWA directly on the exchange 2007 server

    5.      Quote: “if I browse locally in the directories I can successfully load up the images”

So, the image can be displayed in the directories of the IIS on the exchange 2007, right?

    6.      Please check the permissions on the /OWA virtual directory

    a.      Right-click the /OWA virtual directory, go to the Permission option

    b.      In the Security tab, check the following permissions

    ·         Authenticated Users: Read [Allow]

    ·         SYSTEM: All permission [Allow]

    ·         Administrators (ServerName\Administrators): All permission [Allow]

    7.      Please also check the authentication on the /OWA virtual directory, refer to Xiu Zhange’s post in this thread

Notes: As for reinstallation of CAS server, I suggest that we also reinstall the IIS during the procedure. Please see “Exchange Server 2007” section in KB 320202

  • Hi,

I have removed and re-installed IIS before reinstalling the CAS role and now everything is fine.  I simply followed KB 320202.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Regards,

    Alex
