BizTalk 2010 and AS2 SHA-2 signing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

At the moment we're doing some investication about the SHA-2 Algorithm. At the moment, BizTalk 2010 supports SHA-1 signing for AS2.

After some exploring on the internet, I saw the “Final report AS2 Interoperability Test”  on the Drummond Group Site. In the report, Drummond declares that BizTalk 2010 is certified for SHA-2 on AS2.

However, On the Mircrosoft websites, there is no announcement about that.

Will the SHA-2 signing available soon in a Cumilative Update Package?

    Kind Regards,

    Remco de Kruijk

  • Looking at the report, the SHA-2 section appears to be optional "Optional Profile - Secure Hashing Algorithm 2 (SHA-2)".

From the following article, it appears that BizTalk did not participate in the SHA-2 certification (Paragraph 2): http://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20120612005233/en/19-Secure-Messaging-Products-Drummond-Certified%E2%84%A2-AS2

  • Hi Remco,

I am facing the same questions. How did you finally manage to use SHA2 with BizTalk 2010?

    Kind regards

  • SHA-2 support is optional and was probably not supported in BizTalk Server 2010 AS2.

  • Hi,

I have got an official update from Microsoft on this. Following is the reply to the service request that i had raised.

    • BizTalk does not officially support SHA2 yet.
    • Microsoft is currently doing testing of SHA2 after making some architectural changes in the product and the testing is supposed to end by December, 2015. They will then release a cumulative update for 2013 R2. So SHA2 will be officially supported in BizTalk 2013 R2 soon.
    • No hotfixes or CU's will be released for previous versions to implement this support (2006 R2's extended support is soon going to end and no product change will be entertained. Similarly for other versions)

More details can be found here.
