  • Hi, iffi,

It seems that you are using a modern team site in SharePoint Online and that is a by-design behavior. For modern experience, you can go to manage user and permissions  either click on the "X members" link in the top-right corner area of the page. Or navigate to the gear icon on the right corner of site banner, click on it you can see site permissions. Go Advanced permission settings will bring to classic view of permission settings.

More information about users and permission in modern experience. Now it is connected to O365 groups: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/modern-experience-sharing-permissions

    Best Regards

    Jerry
