My laptop (Win 7 HP 32 Bit) has been freezing/shutting down randomly, mostly during booting itself, for the past 2 months. Based on replies to earlier posts on this in the community, I tried to update drivers. In the Device Manager, there is a hidden Network
adapter RAS Async Adapter, for which when I try to update driver I get the following error message:
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it
The system cannot find the file specified.
If you know the manufacturer of your device (etc...)
But the General tab for the adapter shows the manufacturer to be Microsoft.
but of course you can always hit f8 during boot up and try " last known good configuration" else what i can suggest if you have systems restore please go ahead and proceed with system restore to the last known good date.
