  • Question

  • I do not have complete administrative rights on the computers in my home network.  How do I know which user is the actual administrator, and how do I regain control of my network?  Thanks

  • To locate the true administrator account, download psgetsid here.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897417

Run the command psgetsid username at the command prompt.

The SID of the the builtin administrator account even if it has been renamed is -500.

or, the Administrator account should be in your Administrators Group.

Once you identify the account you can go the root of C: and see the properties, go to Security tab, Advanced and take ownership of all the files if you are having a file security issue.

    Hope this helps.
