web part and app parts RRS feed

  • There are few differences, Microsoft introduced the APP Part to develop the APPS. The major differences between the App Part and the Web part are the following.

    • An App webpart can run outside the SharePoint environment, but the Web Part has to run under the SharePoint premises.
    • An App webpart can be deployed to the Cloud premises, but a web part has to be deployed in the OnPremises server.
    • If an App web part crashes, it won't significantly impact the SharePoint farm, whereas, in case of the webpart, it does affect the farm.
    • Apps can be deployed to the Microsoft Office Store.

    Thanks & Regards.

  • Hi Ahmed,

    Quoted from the article:

Both App Parts and Web Parts are listed in the Web Part gallery from where they can be added in a page. From an end user's perspective, App Part is like a Web Part - both of them provides a way to add a piece of functionality to a page. However, there are primary differences between them in how they are developed and deployed. In App Part, the app code runs outside of the SharePoint while Web Part code runs within SharePoint. So, poorly built apps does not impact SharePoint environment as in case with poorly built Web Parts.
