    	<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=Edge" />
    	<meta charset="utf-8" />
    	<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft SharePoint" />
    	<meta http-equiv="Content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

    Above are the meta tags added in My Master Page. but still when the site is opened in IE11 or IE10 it chooses default document mode as 7 . My same SharePoint site opens fine in Chrome .

    Does anybody know how to set default document mode to EDGE . i dont want system/machine level settings. please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you.

  • Hi Nikhil,

    1. Please check the SharePoint site and make sure not added in the Compatibility View list as document mode will be stucked if added to this list, you can check with IE Browser-> Tools->Compatibility View settings:

    2. Add this line into you master page within <head> tag:

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=Edge" />

    Back to see the Browser document mode will change to Edge:

    More information:

    How to set IE11 Document mode to edge as default?

    Thanks

    Best Regards

  • Hi,

    You don't need to add the above meta tag to your Master Page, by default all SharePoint 2013 master pages uses the "Edge".
    If you update any of the meta tag to it, there could be the rendering problem in Modern pages in SharePoint or issues will be there while migrating to SharePoint 2016 or moving the sites to O365.

    Gear up for some solid action by doing. Slide,theory and blog won't useful much.
