  • Dear Steve ,

    Thanks for the response,

I have gathered the below information,

some of Challenges Identified are as below,

    1. We need to assist to find out what content will go to OneDrive and What contents goes to a Team Site
    2. If files are shared with Box Group, this Group Need to be Converted to a AD Security Group
    3. If a File or Folder is owned by multiple owners this data must be migrated to a Teams Site
    4. Best Practices for Data that is being shared with External Users

    Major Challenges

    1. File extensions :If there are Scripts stored on BOX , this file will not be migrated because scripting capabilities are turned off by default in OneDrive and SharePoint. (We need to turn on scripting file extension on One Drive)
    2. File and folder name characters : Find all items in the Folders and Files report whose name contains any of the characters not supported on One Drive and come up with character replacement policy
    3. File and folder path length : Find all items in the Folders and Files report whose Path exceeds the file path length
    4. Large drives and complex sharing : Scan for any drives that have a very large amount of content, or many different unique sharing permissions – this is usually a sign that the drive should be broken down into smaller, more focused sites.
    5. Internal and external user & group permission mapping/Conversion : Since permissions do not transfer over automatically, either they must be reassigned in OneDrive or a tool must be used to retain them.
    6. Box file versioning : Box file versions can be migrated but may have to be reassigned in OneDrive. This would be time consuming for millions of documents.
    7. Box Notes : Box notes will have to be converted to readable documents. They would have to be downloaded, converted, then reuploaded to OneDrive.
    8. Box links : Box links cannot be migrated as OneDrive does not have similar features. It is best to audit the current Box links and ensure that there will not be major interruptions without them.
    9. Group : Box groups more closely resemble SharePoint Online Groups rather than Exchange Groups. Mapping permissions and ownership between Box groups and SharePoint Online Groups ensures smooth adoption

Hope that helps someone like me,

    Regards - Hasan
