Integrating Lync with 3rd Party Presence Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to connect up Lync to a 3rd Party Presence Server, in a similar way that Lync connects to MSN for example.

One approach would be to use the xmpp gateway, but this would be very inefficient as both my own presence server (and Lync AFAIK) utilise SIP SIMPLE natively.

Does anybody know if it would be possible to connect the 2 systems directly?

Modifying the 3rd party presence server is not an issue as it is our own product, what I'm not sure about is the Lync side of things.

  • Hi,

A possible workaround is try to build a custom Lync application interface that would connect Kamailio.

  • Hi,

What product do you want to integrate with Lync?

I don’t think it is possible to connect 2 systems directly if they use different protocol such as Gamil users and Lync users.

  • The product I want to interconnect would be a variant of Kamailio.
