Lync 2010 federation problem/DNS RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Client has Lync 2010 enviroment and there is porblem with federation (no working). There is one intresting DNS configuration.
Lync pool FQDN is sip.domain.com and also the external access edge name is sip.domain.com. Can this be the problem that federation is not working. Split brain DNS is in use.

  • hi - Although such "conflict" is less than desirable, there's a chance it might not be their problem, assuming the split-brain is implemented correctly and all DNS resolution is consistent based on placement of resources.

Several other factors may be the cause of federation failure: DNS, certificates, federation policies, federation routing in topology.

Assuming everything has been carefully checked, I'd suggest to run traces on edge and front-end to further troubleshoot.

  • Hi Snooz,

For federation successfully, like Akessio said, please check the Edge server certificates, DNS and federation Policies.

You can refer to the following link about Lync federation:

If the issue persists, please send more information for further troubleshooting.
