OCS FE service restarted automatically

    Question

  • There are three OCS servers in the enterprise pool with ocs 2007 R2 setup.

Second server FE service restarted automatically and I dont find any useful logs.

    Pls advise.

  • A service in windows that is configured to automatically start is also configured to be restarted in 60 seconds when it's shut down unexpectedly.

The service probably crashed and automatically restarted. It should show information about it in event log, at least a message that the service was started. The logs before this should define why it stopped. Are you looking in the OCS log in event viewer?

  • Thanks Ruben for your response.

I looked both in event viewer and event logs[ocs]. Is there a tool to analyse the cause?

  • Yes, event viewer :-)

Just filter the event log so it shows only errors and warnings, then sort it based on time and see for logs around the time the service restarted. The logs of OCS are pretty good, most of the time they show a lot of information about the issue.

  • There is not much of information other than the error found in event viewer that was mentioned above.

Since it resolved automatically, I have closed it from my end. If I get the issue again, I will find out the cause and share the same in our forum.

  • If still no luck, I would recommend you install another Lync FE Ent server, add it to existing Lync pool with DNS load balancing of them, after then decommission the bad one.
