Guest access to video conference and WiFi only

    Question

  • We have been advised by MS support that users accessing a Skype for Business meeting as a guest can only do so via Wifi. We find this has a tremendous roadblock as part of a use case of for Human resources who would like to conduct video interviews.

As a corporation how do we fend of the use of standard Skype client for corporate use when guest attendees have issues with Skype for business which are not there for the standard Skype client?

Please advised how you have handled this for a corporate user policy point of view and user experience.

    Thanks

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

By my research, there are no any options for us to let guest access to video conference using wifi only until now. Because the network for guest device is controlled by gust side, instead of Skype for business side. If not. you could submit feedback by the following link:

  • I have submitted.  We are just struggling from a corporate perspective sine human resources does conduct video meetings and potentially there are guest users who for many reasons cannot access wifi at the time of meeting.  (interviewee cannot conduct meeting in their current place of employment and may need to step outside those walls which may or may not have wifi is one of the scenarios which actually brought it to our attention.).  The interviewer defaulted to his own personal device a used standard Skype which is not the precedent we want from a corporate controlled environment.
