    Hi,

    Thanks for your question.

    For now, MS official released version is windows server 2019 1809 build 17763.253. And I made the test to check RDP listening state, still on non-listening. 


    I also checked windows firewall status to see if the firewall cause to deny RDP 3389, and then turn off it, it still doesn't work yet.

    For now, MS is investigating this issue. I will update here once there's any update on this issue.

    May I ask were I can find the version that you use? It's officially released? Where?

    Your screenshots show that you don't even use hyper-v core server. I can tell, because on core servers, the command winver does not even work.

    As Michael stated, he is showing Windows Server 2019, not Hyper-V Server.  For testing purposes, you could use the core installation of Windows Server 2019 until Hyper-V Server 2019 is officially re-released.  Though not exactly the same, they are close.

    I need the free server. This is a machine that hosts linux OS', so we don't have a spare windows server license planned for it.

    Hi,

    We could also get the free Hyper-V server 2019 core version from Microsoft Evaluation Center . 

    Besides, we may run the command "ver" in the CMD on the core server to show the OS information.

    Michael, it seems you have not understood. That link you give yourself does not give me an ISO. please click on it yourself and try to "access your evaluation". I mean why did I write this? Because that very link does not work.

    I don't think there is any other option currently then use Hyper-V 2016 and later upgrade to 2019 once released.

    Dave, why are you repeating yourself? I understood that, it's just that I expect them to share info on a new planned release date and not hold it back at a status "working on it" for 6 weeks. Server 2019 is released. Correcting it took long enough. Hyper-V-Server is a reduced version of it, what can be so hard to correct that one, too? Tell me if you know, but don't link

    Its unlikely microsoft will post a release date or status. One day it will just show up. If you wanted a more official "we don't know" I'd suggest you can start a case here with product support.

    Proposing that as answer would imply that Microsoft themselves and not MVPs agree with it. Since MS has a Relaunch blog and used it to communicate the re-release dates and did not comment on latest developments, it is quite possible anyday they will announce the re-release date, so it will not "just show up one day".

    This question could only be marked solved if some MS representative shared something.

    I was monitoring that thread once a week, anyway, but now I have looked at it earlier, so I could solve it by this weekend :-)

    So there's a patch out for it to build .348 and that one allows remote desktop, so almost all is well. What MS still has to look at before they republish: the dysfunctional in-place upgrade from hyper-v-core 2016 (yes, many don't like inplace upgrades, but MS likes them, obviously, or they wouldn't force them on ANY win10 user).

    A month after opening this, still no change. I can imagine how hard Microsoft is "actively (?) working to get this validated and released". NOT.

    So, ok, we'll wait. NOT.

    If you ask me: the free hyper-v core is probably considered to be discontinued and MS is testing how much this hurts. Else, I see no logical explanation.

    I have installed it clean from what they once launched but withdrew, because I don't think MS will ever re-release it. And if they do, probably, the upgrade option will still fail because their testing department is sound asleep, so what's the use waiting.

    I installed the initial version of Hyper-V Server 2019  on October 2018 (17763.1.180914-1434.rs5_release_SERVERHYPERCORE_OEM_x64FRE_en-us).

    In your opinionwhat do I have to do now? Reinstall everything? Or is there a way to upgrade?

    The result of the command "wmic datafile where name="c:\\windows\\system32\\vmms.exe" get version" is: 10.0.17763.404

    Still, you cannot use this setup to upgrade from Hyper-V 2016. It still fails with the same error "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during SET_Product_Key operation" like ever before.

    I have no problem with doing a clean installation, but I wonder if MS ever tests this and ever cares.

    I have the same problem upgrading Windows server 2016 Datacenter VM to Windows Server 2019 Datacenter. Put my hands down with HyperV 2016 server upgrade for now too.

    Still, you cannot use this setup to upgrade from Hyper-V 2016. It still fails with the same error "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during SET_Product_Key operation" like ever before.

    I have no problem with doing a clean installation, but I wonder if MS ever tests this and ever cares.

    Same problem with latest released iso 17763.737. Any workarounds ?
