Migration from Lync 2010 Standard to Skype for Business online. RRS feed

  • Question

  • So we're doing a migration from Lync 2010 to Skype for Business Online and our current process is using the Powershell command

    Disable-CSUser "username"

to delete the account from the Lync server.  This also removes the user's SIP so we have to do another Powershell command to add the user's sip address.

    $Server = Get-RemoteMailbox $User | select -ExpandProperty OriginatingServer
    $Email = Get-RemoteMailbox $User | select -ExpandProperty UserPrincipalName
    Get-RemoteMailbox $User | Set-RemoteMailbox -EmailAddresses SIP:$Email -Confirm:$false

Once the SIP address is readded we then wait for a dirsync so our Onprem exchange server can sync with O365.  After that happens we verify the user is in the cloud and able to login.  There are some problems with this approach.

    1. Re-adding the SIP address also removes any secondary SMTP addresses for that user.  (This could be scripted to counter that)

    2. All the user's custom groups are deleted so they are having to readd their groups again..

My question is there another  (possibly easier way to do this.) .  I've read many forums where people run the Move-CSUser cmdlet and actually migrate users to the cloud but I don't have the -HostedMigrationOverrideUrl property to do that..  Is that only with Lync 2013 and later?  Thanks

  • Hi PContreras1125,

The parameter “HostedMIgrationOverrideUrl” in move-csuser cmdlet is introduced in Lync server 2013, it means we couldn’t use this parameter in Lync server 2010.

  • HostedMIgrationOverrideUrl is only applies in Lync 2013

URL for the hosted migration service used when moving a user to Skype for Business Online.

    Type: String
    "word-wrap:break-word;padding:14px 0px;line-height:1.5;vertical-align:top;border-width:1px 0px 0px;border-style:solid;border-color:#e0e0e0;float:none;width:484px;">Named
    Default value: None
    Accept pipeline input: False
    Accept wildcard characters: False
    Applies to:

Lync Server 2013, Skype for Business Server 2015

    Do you have any workaround?
