Lync Server 2013 Federation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody.

We have two domains in one datacenter.

    Domain1  is in 172.16.10.x subnet

Domain 2 is in 10.10.10.x subnet

There is rooting between these subnets and there is Lync Server 2013 installed for every domain.

I want to make federation beetween these domains. But i configured edge rule in front-end server and configured federation from lync control panel. But federation doesnt works. Can u help me?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Have you added the necessary DNS record for federation ?

    type : SRV

    Host : _sipfederationtls._tcp.[domain]

    Value : sip.domain

    port : 5061

In your environment, lync Edge servers must be in different subnets like :

    Domain 1:

1 subnet for LAN (FE Servers)

1 subnet for DMZ (Edge Servers)

    DOmain 2:

1 subnet for LAN (FE Servers)

1 subnet for DMZ (Edge Servers)

One Subnet that communicates with your two DMZ (it's like "MPLS" simulation, sorry don't know how to explain this with other words) ==> Routing between DMZ 1 and DMZ 2. SIP Federation record must be resolve in this subnet.

  • Is Domain 1 & Domain 2 a part of the same AD Forest?

If yes then why do you need federation?

If they are different AD forest then have you deployed Lync Edge server Role if not

    Please refer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg399048.aspx

    For Sip federation please refer
