  • Alice,

The articles you sent me only pertain to mail enabling a Active Directory DIST GROUP for Exchange Server. Let me reiterate. I created an Active Directory DISTRIBUTION GROUP. I am trying to add that DISTRIBUTION GROUP to my Skype for Business 2016 client. When I search for the DISTRIBUTION GROUP that I created in AD, I cannot see it in the search parameters for Skype for Business 2016 client. How can I enable the DISTRIBUTION GROUP  that I created in AD so that I can see the group and add it to my contact list in Skype for Business 2016 client??? This is an image of another AD DISTRIBUTION GROUP that was added to my contact list in Skype for Business 2016 client.

So when I search for the test_skype_dist group I created in AD, the search comes up with nothing. How can I make the DISTRIBUTION GROUP I created in AD pop up so it can be added to the contact list?

  • Hi,

Since you cant query the group in SFB client via Global Address book,

Just qurious to know- Have you mail enabled the distribution group (Enable-Distributiongroup commandlet)

If not then you wont be able to search it. So enable the AD based DG group and then validate

Also, see below article on how to add the DG in SFB client (Which you already know)

    Hope my comment would help

  • First, you need to make sure that the distribution list has an email address.  Then you need to either wait for Lync/SfB address book replication to happen (automatically at 1:30am each night), or you need to run Update-CsAddressBook.  After that completes, depending on how you have your clients configured to use the Lync/SfB address book, you'll either need to wait for the client to check in with the server (the client will check in 24 hours after the last address book download), or if you're using Server based Search, then the clients will be able to query the updated address book right away.
