Target Version format for administrative template GPO of Office 365 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have installed Office 365 ProPlus on a bunch of clients and they are in Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) version 1808.

I know I can defer upgrade to the newer version (in my case the 1903, which will be available next July) and remain in the non-current ring (in my case the 1808) by setting the version in the "Target Version" GPO parameter (link).

After some reading it was unclear to me which format is (only) valid. If I look at the following page:

    Update History for O365 ProPlus

the version is reported in the YY-MM format. So I am supposed to put in the "Target Version" in that format (in my case I should add 1808 to not upgrade in July '19).

Unfortunately, I have some doubts because, even on Microsoft official documentation, sometimes the "Version" is reported in the YY-MM format, sometimes they speak about version as a "build" number. It is a little bit confusing, in my mind.

    Thank you.
