Disable Skype for Office 365 tenant RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,

Is there a way to disable Skype for a Office 365 tenant or use a different domain for SIP addresses?

    Background:

We are hosting users from a trusted domain on our on-premise Skype. Email is managed in Office365.

Everythings works fine except Skype federation from other Office 365 tenants. These users are not able to initiate a conversation, they are seeing the unused csusers in Office 365 - of course always disconnected.

    Best Regards,
    Holger

  • Here's the solution:

Ask O365 support to delete all SIP profiles. To prevent recreation you have to disable Skype lincensing for every single O365 account beforehand.

That way DOMAIN2 vanished from O365 SIP address directory and DNS resolution is used.

    Holger

  • Hi Holibert,

Based on your description, did you mean that when your SFB on premise federated with SFB online, user can’t initiate the conversation IM, is that right?

Did the issue happen to all users in your environment or specific user had the issue?

Are there any error messages when you want to open a new conversation?

If you mean SFB on premise federate with SFB online, you could refer to the following document to check the steps for the federation
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205126.aspx

For this issue, please try to use Microsoft remote connectivity analyzer test if there are any errors

  • Hi Alice,

No, all SFB on-premise users from DOMAIN1 (ours) and DOMAIN2 (trusted) can initiate conversation with everyone in SFB online. The other way doesn't work for the on-premise users from DOMAIN2, because DOMAIN2 is registered in SFB online and used for creating SIP addresses there. Any federation attempt from other SFB online users never leaves SFB online, it ends up at the unused SFB online accounts for DOMAIN2.

I'm looking for a way to disable SFB online management for DOMAIN2, mail management etc. should remain there.

    Regards,
    Holger
