How to delay Communicator auto start by a minute RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to delay the auto starting of communicator by a few minutes?  We want to keep it auto starting, but dont want it to start until after a minute or two after the user has logged on, not right away.

  • Hi RJO,

    Here’s a solution for reference.

    1.        Turn off automatically start Lync when log on to Windows.

    2.        Create the file Delay.bat (For example, under disk C.) with the contents as follows.

    @echo off

    ping -n 300 localhost

    start "title" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Lync\communicator"

    3.        Create the file Delay.vbs with the contents as follows.

    set ws=WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

    ws.Run "C:\delay.bat",0

    4.        Add the file Delay.vbs under Start – All programs – Startup.

    Please note, the parameter “300” in the cmd “ping –n 300 localhost” means the delay time you wanna.

    Have a try. And hope it helps.

  • Brilliant idea.  Thanks.  Too bad there's no delay function built into the program for older PCs.
