Hi, Polycom CX 600 external(edge server) support uses pin login? RRS feed

  • No, the PIN Authentication method is not supported externally.  Even if the phone is 'provisioned' internally the PIN Authentication is still not supported externally due to the DHCP requirements and direct access to the Front-End server needed.

You can login via PIN auth internally and then move the device outside the network but the phone will only work with cached credentials and will stop working after the client certificate expires (default 180 days), if the user is signed-out, or if the device is reset (factory or hard).

Because the CX600 supports USB tethering then that is the preferred solution for external usage.  The CX500 only works externally with cached-credentials as described above and is also not recommened or supported as an Edge-connected device.
