Lync does not recognize audio device. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Dell E6540 and Lync (office365) gives a message that it does not recognize an audio device.

    things I have tried

    1) update Bios

    2) update all drivers using Dell command update and Dell drivers update page

    3) delete drivers so that it has to reload them

    4) check microphone settings under sound

    5) make sure power management is not turning the audio device off

    6) plug in external head set (I would prefer if the factory installed microphone worked instead)

  • I found a way to get this working.

I had to install a driver for "Chipset_Driver_5JFFN_WN_2.5.4.40_A05.EXE"

Then I reinstalled the audio driver again

  • You should always use a Lync optimized Headset or Audio device for better voice quality.

Check if you have installed some drivers for virtual device or special driver for virtualization which block the audio device for Lync.

  • Hi jakesz28,

Please check if there’s a WiDi USB Intel Wireless card is installed.

If this is the case, open Device Manager then disable the Intel UoIP Bus and Host Controller.

Have a look at this article,

  • I do not see  Intel UoIP Bus and Host Controller listed in device manager. I have also tried to disable the virtual deivers in device manager. Each time try a change a I close Lync and reopen it.

Lync works on my windows 8.1 device but does not work with this Dell and windows 7
