Update Lync server 2013 to Skype for Business 2015 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our company has deployed Lync server 2013, and integrated with Cisco. We found some bugs when using Mobile clients, so we planned to upgrade the current server to SFB 2015. What is the easiest way to achieve this goal? During the update, will the current topology be affected? What preparations we should do before updating?

  • Hi Tracey.

The easiest way to upgrade is to make an inplace upgrade from Lync Server 2013 to Skype4B 2015. The process will affect the current topology. For preparations and how to, please read this article: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn951371.aspx

  • If you have extra hardware available, physical or virtual, you may wish to consider setting up a new Skype for Business Front-End server. This enables users to be moved to the latter and back to Lync Server 2013 if needed should unexpected issues appear.

Please share if this helps. Thanks.
