GPO to reboot workstations at specific date\time RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Subject says it all. I tried using a scheduled task with the shutdown command but  I am not seeing the task even though I can see the GPO applied using gpresult.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Hi everyone, I am still having a problem with this scheduled task and Group Policy I have checked logs on my test machine and there are no errors. In fact there is a message indicating the policy I created has been successfully applied however I do not see the task in task scheduler and it does not run and the scheduled time. Could it be the scheduled task itself? A gpresult /r shows the Policy being applied.

    Thanks for your support.

  • See with Event Viewer what happends.

    1. RSOP or gp results shows you only if the GPO is applied.
    2. Event Viewer shows you first, will the GPO create the Task
    3. Event Viewer should view you, will the task run or not. Also Task Schedulder console could view you that, if the Task will be left there.

This is no brainer, should be done easily.

  • Pavel,

Correct, RSOP showed me the GPO was applied but I was unable to find it using Task Scheduler.

  • Hi,

How's the result of the command: gpresult /h report.html?

If possible , would you please share a screenshot of that?

  • I had the same problem before - if you grate GPP task scheduler by default, it will not stay in local mmc. You need to modify, how the Task will populate at the computer and how it will run. But in any way, in event viewer you should see if Task Scheduler run failed.
