Removed ip address on webserver reappears after reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • We removed an IP address on a 2003 Web Server and added it to a 2008R2 Web Server.

After we reboot the 2003 Web Server the IP address reappears and causes a IP conflict. How can we prevent this from occuring again?

  • Hi,

Do you mean you add the IP address as a static IP for the Windows Server 2008 R2 Web Server?

If yes, duplicate IP address conflicts may occur between the network device and a DHCP client computer.

In these scenario, I recommend you exclude the IP address from the DHCP scope so that the Windows Server 2003 Web server won't get that IP address again.

    Best regards,

  • Under the 2003 server, uninstall/untick the TCP/IP protocol, effectivety removing the stack, restart Windows and enable it again. Also double-check the NIC doesn't have any alternative IP's assigned or is managed by a 3rd party management tool.
