You might not have the latest participant list because the server is down RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Our company is using Skype for Business and each user gets the below messages every now and then about 5 times throughout the day. This happens at random times and there is no pattern as to when it happens. Users also go offline for periods of about 2-3mins without them noticing which means that messages are missed.

You might not have the latest participant list because the server is down

You were disconnected from the IM conversation. Skype for Business will try to reconnect

The participant list is now current.

Your connection to the IM conversation has been restored. Messages sent by other contacts while you were not in the conversation will not appear.

Does anyone know what might be the cause of this and how to fix this?

    Any help is much appreciated.

  • Hi KamilCMM,

This is mostly a generic message when the Skype for Business client will loss the network connectivity with the server. You need to check with your network team if there is any issue going on. If you are connecting remotely make sure you have a stable connection. The best way to find the root cause of this issue is to take the client logs and examine that for the connectivity breaking cause. You can also find some information in your skype monitoring User Activity Report.

  • Hmm... nothing in the client logs

I have ran a ping test for the whole day yesterday and there were 0 packets lost and in that time I had that message pop up 5 times.

  • Hi KamilCMM,

To further troubleshoot the issue, please help us confirm the following information?

1.Did you use Skype for business on-premise or Skype for business online?

2.Did you use VPN to connect to the SFB server?

Please send us the screenshot for the “configuration information” page. The Skype for Business client configuration information. You can check this by holding the ctrl key and then right-clicking on the skype for business client icon->configuration information.

You can use SFB Server Remote Connectivity Test Tool to make a test, are there any errors?

    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/

Please update the SFB client to the latest version.
