When creating Skype Meeting in Outlook audio and video icons are missing in Lync client. RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have Lync 2010 server, Edge server and reverse proxy server installed. The client is Skype for business which comes with the 2013 Office.

The problem: When users create a new Skype meeting via Outlook calendar, the link for the new meeting produces a Lync window without video\audio icons:

If they create a meeting directly from the Lync, the icons are there and all works fine. One more caveat: if users choose "A new meeting space" when creating a Skype Meeting in Outlook ( under meeting options), the video\audio options appear normally:

Can anyone explain why those icons are not available when Meeting Options are set to "My dedicated meeting space" ?

    Thanks

  • HI

What about your inband provisioning policy. Nornmaly if users are disabled in client policy you will get. you can check that by get-csclientpolicy.

  • Hi,

From your description above, it seems that the issue related with the Lync conference policy. Note that the Lync conference policy not work when you create a Lync meeting directly on Lync client.

You need to check the follow Lync conference policy:

    AllowIPAudio, AllowIPVideo

Make sure the two parameter set to "True"

    Best Regards

  • Eason, thank you for your input.

We have pretty plain Lync configuration, most settings are by default. No user policies are defined at all, all are under Global policies. And of course the Global policy does have Audio\Video checked. Please, notice, users have Audio\Video in both cases: when they create a meeting directly from Lync client and from Outlook by choosing "A new meeting space" option. Only when they choose "My dedicated meeting space (less secure)" option the audio\video icons on Lync disappear. Also, the command get-csclientpolicy produces very little food for thinking.
