Skype for Business 2016 won't open RRS feed

  • Question

  • The skype splash screen will open for a split second then disappear.  Nothing shows it running in task manager.  I reinstalled skype.  also uninstalled video drivers.  Same result.  all other users here have skype for business 2015.  is there a way to install that instead to see if that fixes issue?

  • Hey,

I've seen similar a few times now. What fixed it for me was either an Office Repair which can be started by using the "Change" option in "Programs and Features" or if you have Office 2016 then the Online Repair may be a better option.

Not sure what causes this but appears to be something to do with Office or having multiple versions of Office.

Give the suggestion and go and let me know how you get on.

  • Hi,

You can try with the following things:

    1. Repair Office 2016

    2. Uninstall NVIDIA\audio\video drivers on the computer and then install the Windows default drivers to have a try

    3. Run Clean Boot:

    4. Try Office 2013.

  • Did you try to first start another Office 2016 Application such as Word or Excel before Skype for Business 2016?

    Thanks / rgds,

  • I had same issue and just fixed by upgrading Internet Explorer 11.

After upgrade to IE11, reboot your PC, then Skype runs okey.

  • Thank you! Installing IE 11 worked for me as well.

It seems stupid that they would require IE 11 for this. It doesn't make any logical sense.

  • I was able to resolve it today just by launching IE 11 once. IE asked if I want to apply some settings or go with default ones. Once I did that, Skype for Business started to launch normally. Perhaps it couldn't start because IE had to ask that question.

  • i got solution for this issue.

Don't do MS office online repair.

Please do logout from user profile(windows user login) and try to login from different profile.

if its works, then issue with user profile and take user data back up and recreate the profile.

    it should work..i hope:)
