Lync recoded file size is too big - how to convert or extract audio to make smaller? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are recording meetings using Lync which works great, however the recorded MP4 files are enormous for a half hour or hour meeting. We only want the audio and a half hour meeting is 35MB.  Much too large to email. Is there an easy, secure way to convert these to another file type which would be smaller, or extract the audio?  I do not have much experience in this area.  Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Take a look at Camtasia Studio which permits you to perform authoring and edits of audio/video recordings.

Please share if this helps. Thanks.

  • It seems Camtasia Studio is geared toward editing videos.  My calls are only audio. I don't really need them to be an MP4 file, that is just the default way that Lync records them.

  • Camtasia Studio works great for audio-only, video-only or A/V authoring with a variety of interesting features, including the production (extract) of popular audio-only file formats.

Hope this helps. Thanks for sharing!
