any way to disable silence suppression? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have had a few people complain about voice "dropping" or choppiness, only to find out they noticing it after a party pauses in their speech, and then when they resume talking they miss the first word.  I am guessing this is due to the silence suppression and I would like to know if there is a way to turn this off? Right now I am still going through my OCS R2 mediation server, connected to a Cisco Callmanager IP-PBX.  I have migrated all users to Lync cu3, and will soon move the mediation server to lync as well. DO I have any options to try and fix this "problem"?

  • By default Silence Suppression (VAD) is enabled on Cisco CallManager. You can disable/enable it through the Service Parameters Configuration of the Cisco CallManager.

  • I have a similar problem but running Lync Server 2010 on its own. When users make calls if they remain silent the suppression kicks in and the other party hears nothing and thinks the call has been cut off and proceeds to say "hello? Anyone there can you hear me". Is there any way to turn this silence suppression off in Lync? I need to keep clients happy and at the moment they are not.
