New authenticator device not recognised by external organisation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone

I recently broke my phone which had my authenticator app installed on it.  The phone was completely dead so no way of removing the app etc.  However, I have now got a new phone and installed the authenticator app on it and can use this to sign into M365 for my organisation.

However, I am also a member of a team in Microsoft Teams that is part of a different organisation.  Whenever I try to view this team I am prompted to accept the notification on Authenticator but I never get anything through on my new phone.  I assume the notification is still attempting to be sent to my old device?

I just wanted to check, would this be something that needs to be resolved by the external organisation.  As mentioned, everything seems be working internally but I wasn't sure if the issue with the second org is something we can fix or somethingthey would need to do?

Any information would be gratefully received.  Thanks in advance.

  • I have the exact same problem. I tried “transferring” my Authenticator accounts and the only one I cannot generate a QR code for is the external client account.

  • I am having the same issue I can’t get into Snapchat or instagram. My iPhone bugged out and doesn’t work anymore so I downloaded the Authenticator app and logged in like normal but the notifications for snap and insta don’t show up. Please help.
