Office 365 IM Issue RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Greetings,

I'm having a problem with signing in to IM via our Office 365 portal.  We have Office 365 E3, all hosted with MS (no local Exchange, Lync, or SharePoint servers).  I'm getting the error There's a problem with IM. Please try again later.

I've researched this issue and it mentions the requirement of adding SRV records to the DNS settings of my domain.  Unfortunately, my host does not allow SRV DNS records to be added.

Is there any other option for this?

  • "The Lync client can be set to use manual configuration." - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2541980#ResolveDNS

"Some DNS hosts can't host SRV records, or the DNS hosts don't have options to host SRV records. This condition blocks the ability to communicate with external users (Federated and PIC). In these cases, there is currently no workaround except to change DNS hosts or to manage DNS through an on-premises DNS host." - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2566790

  • As the issue is related with Lync Online, you will get better response in the office 365 forum.
