Skype for buisness client unable to search specific user by his first or last name RRS feed

  • The users who uses Skype for business basic client are unable to search specific user by his first or last name. Searching by email address works fine. Please advise.

    What is your AB settings in the ClientPolicy?

    - WebSearchAndFileDownload (In this case, please delete the GAL files from the SIP folder of the user)

    - WebSearchOnly (Check the IIS logs of the FE servers)

    - FileDownloadOnly (In this case, please delete the GAL files from the SIP folder of the user)

    Is all users experiencing this issue?

    Check the address book downloaded to the PC. Adding following registry key you can initial the address book download immediately. reg add HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync /v GalDownloadInitialDelay /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

    And do you experiencing same issue from mobile devices as well?

  • Let me tell you first that we are in Microsoft Cloud environment. This issue limited to only Skype for business basic client. Skype for business Full client, OWA and mobile devices works fine. I made changes in registry but issue still persist. I can search user only by his internet address from Skype for business basic client.

  • Hi, Was there ever a resolution to this? I using Office 365 for mail and Skype for business and am seeing the same issue.

  • is that user present in the locally downloaded address book file? You can open the file in notepad and search the user.
