Archiving in Skype for Business Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Currently I am planning to migrate my Lync 2013 On-Premise Users to Skype for Business Online. In the existing LYNC Infrastructure, we have archiving enabled -and we would like to have the same feature on SFB Online as well.  But as we all know, Skype for Business Online will not support Archiving. The only alternative for this that I could find was "in-place hold and eDiscovery" feature available on Exchange Online. But we are not interested on this since it might be increasing the Exchange Server work load. Can any one please suggest some other alternative or Some other Third Party Vendor with whom we can integrate SFB Online , and thus we can archive SFB chat history.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Regards,

    AJ

  • unfortunately Archiving for Skype for business online does need online mailbox. the only other way is to use Conversation history ( lync client will use EWS to communicate with your on Prem environment) although conversation history is not Archive and the content that is retained is fairly limited(only IM ) /also there is no guarantee that all data will be saved in the conversdation history folder.

There is no 3rd party product as API still not published by Microsoft

  • Hi Alias,

Based on my research, for SFB online, there is no option for storing archived data in SQL and thus the only option is integration with Microsoft Exchange, for more details, please refer to:
