  • The first question is: Are you sure that there's only 150 items in the library? The view might be a lot smaller but if there's over 5000 in total then it'll still trip the boundary (unless you're clever but that doesn't come out of the box).

Assuming you are, what does the list consist of, i'm wondering if the lookup threshold might be being breached and misreported.

As to fixing it, the simplest thing is to increase the threshold limit and see if that works. It is not a good idea for the long term, the cap is set at 5k for a reason, perfomance suffers with large lists and there are ways around it that scale a lot better.

For now, try upping the limit to something large (during non critical business hours) and see if that allows you to view the list. I'm not sure off the top of my head if the update to the webapp will force an IIS reset but there is a chance.

  • Hi, to solve this you just have to increase the list vie threshold value.

    • Open Central Administration.
    • Go to Application Management > Manage Web Application and select your web application
    • In the Ribbon, click on General Settings drop-down and choose “Resource Throttling”.
    • In the “List View Threshold”, increase the value
    • Try to replicate the error: If it persists, increase the value again

    Hope this helps !

  • Well, i've no more idea to help you. I was thinking about hidden workflow libraries but seems not to apply in your case.

  • I had something similar happen today. We were getting that error on a view that should only ever return a couple hundred records. The filter criteria in the view used a column that was a 'Person or Group type and the criteria was equal to [Me]. In reviewing the data, I had found that a user had put in a person that was no longer valid within our Active Directory. In order to correct, I removed the 'Assigned to' criteria from the view so that I could access the errant record, removed the person from the record, re-attached the 'Assigned to' in the search criteria and was able to access the view successfully.
