Exchange 2013 ECP Notification UI shows old Mailbox Import and Export alerts. How to get rid of those? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

these old alerts are already almost one year old. If I make import or export now --> no alerts.

Export PST of mailbox 'xxx' has been queued. It was started by Admin on 3/31/2014 8:01:27 AM.
Import PST of mailbox 'yyy' has been queued. It was started by Admin on 3/10/2014 12:12:59 PM.

These Imports and Exports success, but alerts left. Notification UI shows 50 or sometimes 74 alerts.

I check status with these commands, don't get any queued request:

    get-mailboximportrequest -resultsize "Unlimited" | get-mailboximportrequeststatistics | fl > "C:\import-request.txt"
    get-mailboxexportrequest -resultsize "Unlimited" | get-mailboxexportrequeststatistics | fl > "C:\exeport-request.txt"

  • This is an old thread but we ran into the same issue today.  We were able to easily clear the ecp alerts by running the command below:

    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Search-Mailbox -DeleteContent

It will immediately remove the alerts.

  • Notifications live in the the arbitration mailbox and are supposed be cleared by at a max of 30 days. Try running the managed folder assistant against the arbitration mailbox to force a clean.

    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Start-ManagedFolderAssistant

  • Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Start-ManagedFolderAssistant

resolved my problem with about two minutes. Try to

    Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | Start-ManagedFolderAssistant  -verbose

and see if it is alerts there.

  • Hi,

I tried it already with -verbose, no any alerts.

  • Has anyone answered this question? I am having the same problem. Output from get-notification shows 7 MailboxExports that are queued. But I can't seem to get rid of them. The notifications are from over a year ago. when I run get-MailboxExportRequest -status queued nothing is returned.

I have already ran Get-Mailbox -Arbitration | foreach Start-ManagedFolderAssistant  -verbose and it seemed to have run but the notifications are still there. Any ideas how to clear the notifications?

    Thanks,

    T

  • Looks like another method is probably delete and recreate the arbitration mailbox :

I have this problem of yours too, but we decide to leave it there as the system will phase out soon.
