How to change the color of navigation pane in outlook 2013. The light grey color is not eye catching!

You can't change that sorry but you can perform some customization using this link: http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/outlook2013newandchanged.htm#themecolors

You can't change that color on its own but you can specify a different them via:
File-> Office Account
