Restarting Skype for Business SQL Instance and Setting the Recovery Model to Full RRS feed

  • Question

  • We need to change some of our Skype for Business 2015 (Enterprise) databases as they are set to the Simple recovery instead of Full recovery model, so we can backup the SQL transaction logs.

Our setup is Skype for Business Hybrid. Our on-premise users on have PC-to-PC calling enabled, so no Enterprise voice is in use and our Sfb Online users have Skype for Business Online (Plan 2) and audio conferencing, so they can create meetings. Our online users do not have Skype for Business telephony setup.

    My questions are:

    1. Do all of the SfB 2015 databases supported the Full recovery model.

    2. If we did change the recovery model to Full we would have to reboot the SfB SQL instances. Would this cause any downtime or client disconnects? I presume it would not as the Front Ends would just use the local copies of their databases for the short time that the instance is rebooted? We do not have any high availability setup for our back-end SQL databases.
