OCS 2007 Migration to Lync 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed a standard Lync 2010 Server, also our OCS 2007 server is still running.

Install went pretty well without a hitch.

I am testing Lync with user etest1 and etest2. Etest1 can chat with  Matt(user on OCS) and search and find all OCS users in the Lync client with no issue.

However if I search for from any Lync user for another Lync user the Lync client returns no results. I found a work around to this issue. If I send a meeting invite URL from one lync user to another Lync user, the two users can chat, video, share, everything works.

I have check event Logs on Lync server and there are no error, warnings, and none of the information events are standing out as an issue.
Also having issue with Lync server connecting to find users via LDAP

    Does anyone have any ideas....

Answers

  • 1) Do you receive an error on the lync client "Cannot synchronize the address book"

    2) When did you enable the users for Lync. The address book is generated at 1.30 AM every morning. so if you enabled the Lync user today, then you can see that user in search results tomorrow, when the lync client will download the updated address book.

    3) You can manually update the address book by running the two commands Update-CsUserdatabase & Update-CsAddressbook. Then force the lync client to download the updated Addressbook, by adding a registry key "HKLM\Software\policies\microsoft\Communicator" Dword "GalDownloadInitialDelay" Value 0. this will download the updated address book.

Then try to search for the user.

  • Hi,AaronFreeman,

If you can add user using sip address it must be caused by the address book synchronization. As above guy point out that the new address book file genarate at 1:30 AM on the server by default,if you try to search contacts immediately after you enable user for Lync you will fail because the Address Book file does not exsit. If you still can't download the file over days, you can force the address book update with cmdlet Update-CsAddressBook .

Please check this article wirtten by Jeff Schertz to know more about the process.

  • Have you check that your Adressbook dowload work?

Use the sip address to add a lync user.

press strg and with a right mouse click on the lync symbol in the task bar. Then you get more information EWS should be enabled.
