O365 and AutoDiscover RRS feed

  • Question

  • My firm is in the process on moving to o365 for mail.    WE currently do not have autodiscover turned on externally to prevent users from copying their mailboxes to non domain computers.  I understand that Autodiscover is needed to migrate mailboxes to o365.  Is there a way if any to allow only the 365 environment access to auto discover only for the sake of migrating mailboxes?when all is said and done we plan to completely get rid of EXCH in house.

  • You can create the migration endpoint manually, without having to enable Autodiscover externally. Check for example here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj874458(v=exchg.150).aspx

  • Hi,

Do you now have requirement to allow clients to connect from the non domain joined computers?

May be you do not need to do anything at this point as every mailbox after migration is converted to Remote Mailbox. Make sure you have routing address mentioned in the email address list in Remote Mailbox. Although if this Routing Address is not present, you will not be able to migrate the mailboxes to O365 at all.

    Routing address looks like test@companyname.mail.onmicrosoft.com
